What is WPS in JioFi
WPS stands for Wi-Fi Protected Setup. It is a wireless network security standard that allows to make connections between a router (JioFi) and wireless devices like smartphones or tablets without password.
Unfortunately, WPS can be very insecure and can be used as a means for hackers to gain access to your network easily.
WPS protocol is useful when your friend or family member wants to connect with your JioFi without knowing the JioFi password.
For example, if your friend wants to connect to your JioFi, but you do not want to share the password with him, then you can just press JioFi’s WPS button and then he can be easily connect to your JioFi router without knowing its password.
How to Connect to JioFi using WPS
Step 1: Go to WiFi settings on your Smartphone / Tablet:

Step 3: Tap on Connect WPS to activate WPS function on your smartphone:
Step 4: Now simultaneously Activate WPS on your JioFi by pressing WPS button on JioFi for 3-5 seconds.
Step 5: Your Smartphone and JioFi will now be connected:
However any person who is in the WiFi range of your JioFi while you are sharing your router openly can connect to your network and potentially do damage.
How to Disable WPS in JioFi
We assume you are already connected to JioFi.
Step1: Open a web browser, then type 192.168.1.1 (or http://jiofi.local.html/index.htm) in the address bar.
Step2: Select Login in the upper-right corner.
Step3: Enter the router password (the default user and password is administrator), then click Login.
Step4: Go to the Setting and then click on WPS option at the left side menu of the screen.
Step5: Select the disable option and click on apply changes.
Make sure your router will restart to take effects of these changes.
